We met another remarkable family today staying at Eastside Cannery after being displaced by the #Carpenter1 fire. Guadalupe H., her husband and their 3-year old son found out about the fire while on vacation in California.
By the time they returned home, all the roads up to Mount Charleston were closed. The next day they were escorted to their home, and officials gave them 15 minutes to grab whatever they could. Guadalupe's husband has been living on the mountain for 43 years. Even though they grabbed important documents and some mementos, they realize now there are lot of things they weren't able to grab and wish they had.
This family is so grateful for all that the first responders are doing to save their community and we at Eastside Cannery are honored to be able to them during this difficult time.
