Music legend come to Eastside Cannery on November 9th
LAS VEGAS – The legendary Smokey Robinson, whose recognizable singing, songwriting and producing talents have propelled him to success in the music industry for more than 50 years, will perform at the Eastside Cannery on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. Smokey Robinson has attained the kind of success few others can claim. He charted 37 Top 40 hits for Motown Records between 1960 and 1987. His influence as a recording and songwriting artist is recognized by the string of hits he was responsible for as a member of The Miracles, including “Shop Around,” “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “The Tracks of My Tears,” “More Love,” “I Second That Emotion,” “Ooo Baby Baby,” and “Tears of a Clown.”
Robinson also wrote and produced a number of hits for other Motown artists including Mary Wells’ “My Guy,” The Temptations’ “The Way You Do The Things You Do,” “My Girl”, “Since I Lost My Baby” and “Get Ready.”
By 1975, Smokey Robinson’s solo career went into full gear producing a number of hits in the years to come including “Baby That’s Backatcha,” “Cruisin,” “Being With You,” “Tell Me Tomorrow,” and “Just To See Her.”
Robinson’s latest album Time Flies When You’re Having Fun has been called Smokey’s return to the “coolly, simmering quiet storm” that was his stock and trade during the 1970s and 80s. As one reviewer put it, “Smokey still makes it all seem easy.”
During his career, Robinson has received a Grammy® award as well as a Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also a Kennedy Center Honoree and inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (as a solo artist and a member of The Miracles).
